Baseball bats and guns

Urban survival

We are living in a time of change and transition .Whatever happens we will be hear facing the challenge gathering together adapting resisting and surviving

If you have been made redundant thrown on the benefits pile, Sacked because you can eat no more poop, retired, had your pension stolen by the hedgefund manager , pissed off with a pointless job .Read on

Full time work may be becoming thing of the past unemployment is growing at a steady rate in some towns of England unemployment rates of fifty percent are not unuseual . The once beautiful historic town  where i live has seen in recent years ,deprevation and violent crime increase so much it has even shocked the street gangs .Many of whome will not go out in the dark .

We are very fortunate in Britain that there are no guns .So most crime is by basball bat or knife .We are told it is much safer not to have guns available to the masses and one would assume that it is better to be beaten to death than shot to death I must admit when you think about it in those terms it does seem much better There is a huge red light district and a small white slave trade and we have had the odd serial killer .But we are assure that every thing is now under control and its nothing unusual or to be afraid of .

We have a dedicated police force of loyal hard working individual who face it every day on our behalf only to be short changed with men and resourses and expected to do a better job and have every one they arrest let off by the courts because there are no more space in prison and we cant affrord any more prisons to be built

So there we have it increasing crime and reduced police presence .The system slowly spirals down with the occational big crash until we have a big problem That is the situation today .What will it be like after another crash
We have to look after our selves and each other

jerry aherns survivalist books

jerry aherns  are books entertaining .Beautiful pulp fiction keep the pages turning with no reference to survival techniques what so ever except blasting his way into food halls .The entertainment really overshadows the lack of technique and I kept the pages turning .I liked them so much I have just bought the entire set off eBay .Well I say entire set number 19 was missing and if I had read the description better I would have noticed it .Any way it will take a good long time for me to read up to book 19 I am only on three at the moment
The story centres around John Rourke, ex-CIA officer turned weapons and survival expert, in the aftermath of a nuclear war. The first few books cover rourke’s attempts to find his family, on the way fighting invading Soviet troops as well as typical villains there are extended scenes of graphic violence. Later books head more into science fiction

Squirrels pumped on ginseng mugged my cat

We always assume that it is humans that are being pressured in the big city .But every creature is adapting trying to chisel out a niche for itself those that do not continue to create opportunities and build on them are pushed out tithe margins .This is true for amoeba that live in ponds the native shrimps that are being overpowered by foreign escapees, grey squirrels that are pushing out the smaller native red squirrels, and now my cat.
Alright my old cat is a destructive, smelly, lazy fat tyrant but he was a fat tyrant in his back yard .Now he is under pressure from squirrel’s not ordinary red native squirrels but big grey drug crazed squirrels .Let me explain.
In my little urban paradise I grow lots of plants some to eat some to turn into money .Ginseng is a cash crop for me .I grow it outside, off the ground under wire to prevent pests damaging the expensive roots.
Yesterday I went outside to get some roots to package that I had sold .To my horror the pots had been turned over and dug into the ginseng roots had disappeared .Nooooooooooooooooooooooo
Suddenly it all made sense.
The previous day I was watching the cat waddling around the garden .He suddenly crouched down and began to slowly stalk something in the trees .As I looked up I saw some brazen squirrels fighting each other unaware of approaching death .
The cat suddenly increased his speed leaping majestically through his air towards his prey.
In a split second the squirrels stopped fighting looked at the cat flying through the air like something from a kung fu slow motion film, turned, jumped onto of him and punched him repeatedly in the head .The cat stunned, twisted in the air claws extended ready to slash his would be assailant .The squirrel, pumped up on my high quality ginseng roots jumped to the ground and proceeded to punch the poor old cat repeatedly in his podgy stomach while he was still in mid flight.
Now sensing that this would not be the easy kill he thought it would be with his ears pinned down ran to the house faster than I have ever seen him move

long an wine ding road

I was thinking wthshtf how long would it take after the collapse of civilisation for the roads that were not being used to totally over grow.
I would surmise that most of the tarmac would be covered by a fine layer of grasses and dusty earth in about three years .
Anyway that’s not why I am hear .I suppose the topic should be wine making .Last year we made some elderberry wine and I thought that if I drank two bottles of wine a week, with help. That would only be one hundred odd bottles a year an easily achievable target .say another nine gallons of wine to distil into one gallon of spirits to fortify a few bottles like port and I would be completely self sufficient in wine   .The main problem is the sugar I may have to trade some wine to get the sugar for free. I should be able to get it all in a 45gallon barrel and ferment it .

survival books

I have just started jerry Aherns No. 2 survivalist book the nightmare begins .There does not  seem to be an awful lot about survival techniques in either of them .There is a great deal about guns and shooting .They are a cracking good read though .Must admit that the best survival book I have read in recent times is Patriots by James Wesley Rawles it a good story with some excellent survival tips and techniques
If anyone can suggest a good book with lots of survival in it please let me know .I will plod through this book probably won’t bother with number three though .
I can remember reading a web based book where the people Amputated the leg of someone when they were injured I never finished the story and have not been able to find it since .I would like to re read that one

It is not all bad news
This cracking line that I have massacred is from the film tank girl
“Listen up, cause I'm only telling you this once. I'm not bedtime story lady, so pay attention.. The world is screwed This is the end of the world as we know it. No celebrities, no cable TV, no water. It hasn't rained in 11 years. Now 20 people gotta squeeze inside the same bathtub - so it ain't all bad.”
I am not suggesting that we take a step backward into some long lost time of medevel farming I am talking new moving forward taking the best with us shaking off the parasites and building a sytem of equal living communes dont work they never worked and never will we need a syteme lie communes mbut new and forward looking . I ask myself do I need to be part of that comlex sytem of supply and demand passively consuming rubbish do I need mahogany and gold and the other riches not really. the rich need them so we work for them to try an acumilate these meainless emblems of wealth .
The world as it is it will never be any other, we have knowledge so valuable but we are unable to implement it Not hiding in walled comuneities I will admit you need a roof over your head if you have been thrown onto the street by the banks grabbing the house back its going to be a struggle .So I am talking to the people who have a roof over their heads so I am talking to those of us with outré own house or living with our family our Mum aunty or in a council house above crack den or with friends hopefully they still have the gas water and electricity connected but are freaking hard up.
